Alba reaches final in Dumalag netfest

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Dumalag-Palarong Pambansa veteran Justin Alba ousted Andrei Feca, 8-2, to advance to the finals of 2015 Dumalag National Juniors Age Group Tennis tournament held at Dumalag Tennis Court.

Alba, who played for Western Visayas in the 2012 Palarong Pambansa in Pangasinan, dominated the match to inch closer to the title in the tournament organized by the Philippine Sports Commission and Philippine Olympic Committee and sanctioned by Philta.

“Malakas ang kalaban. Kailangan galingan ko para manalo at ma-bolster ko ang aking morale para sa National Age Group Tennis na gagawin dito sa September,” said Alba, who turns 15 on Sept. 3.

Alba meets Lester de Ocampo, conqueror of Troy Togonon, 8-7, in the winner-take-all match.

Commissioner Salvador Andrada, who arrived an hour before the match, witnessed the games in the company of local officials.

“Philta organized the tournament ostensibly to tap young promising talents and encourage the youths to actively indulge in tennis and the chance to play for the country,” said Andrada, former Philta and Asian Tennis Federation president.
