Dragons rip Jr Warriors for 2nd win in Jumbo Cup

MANILA, Philippines - Defending champion Chiang Kai Shek College demolished University of the East, 102-66, to post its second straight win after an opening day setback in the second PCABL Jumbo Plastic Linoleum Cup at the Philippine Buddhacare Academy gym in Quezon City over the weekend.

Donn Lim scattered 24 points, including 12 in the first half as the Blue Dragons raced to a 50-36 halftime lead and never looked back. They scored 32 more points in the fourth to underscore their domination of the Junior Warriors.

Carl Luciano and Justine Siegue also put in big numbers as Chiang Kai Shek College improved to a 2-1 record in the tournament presented by Jumbo Plastic Linoleum through Jefferson dela Cruz.

National University, priming up for the coming UAAP season, outlasted Far Eastern University, 79-61, in a duel of unbeaten teams in the tournament also backed by Smart Telecom, Advance Solutions Inc., Hapee Toothpaste, Fed Seal, Powerhouse, CW Home Depot and Powerbest Marketing.

For the third time, John Clemente led NU with 17 points and six rebounds while Justin Baltazar, Carl Penano and Winderlich Loyola also produced decent numbers as NU stretched its win run to four.

Reigning UAAP champion Ateneo streaked to its third straight game since its opening day defeat to rival NU as it downed University of the Philippines Integrated School, 81-64, behind Gian Mamuyac and Jolo Mendoza.
