MANILA, Philippines - Orchard and Alabang topped their respective groups after the elimination round to advance to the semifinals of the 2015 Men’s Federation Golf League in various courses recently.
Orchard split its matchup with Riviera, winning at home 3.5-2.5 and losing in the away game via the same score, to finish the eliminations with a league-best 12 points as the top Group 1 qualifier.
Alabang salvaged a crucial draw with Forest Hills at home after losing 1-5 on the road to top Group 2.
The draw avoided complications in Group 2, with Wack Wack taking the second semifinals berth and Forest Hills relegated to third place and out of the semis.
Wack Wack also was pushed to the limit by Eagle Ridge before taking a 3.5-2.5 win that sealed their trip to the Final Four. Wack Wack faced a must-win situation after Eagle Ridge posted a 4-2 win at its Cavite home course.
Valley, co-champion with Wack Wack last year, clinched the other semis berth in Group 2 with a 5-1 win and a 3-3 draw against Mimosa.
Valley finished second with 10 points.
Orchard faces Wack Wack while Alabang battles Valley in the crossover semifinals this week. The winners battle for the championship next week.
All four semifinalists are former champions of the league organized by the Federation of Philippine Golf Clubs, Inc.
