MANILA, Philippines - Erwin Arcillas and amateur partner Edwin Abesamis combined for a 130 to beat the Orlan Sumcad-Mike Guevarra and Genaro Basuan-Vanjie Omlang tandems by three and capture the PGAP pro-am golf crown at Club Intramuros last Monday.
Arcillas shot a two-under 64 while Abesamis carded a net 66 through Blind Callaway as they pocketed the top P20,000 purse in the 18-hole tournament organized by the Professional Golfers Association of the Philippines, headed by president Jun Bustamante.
The long-hitting Sumcad, a regular campaigner on the ICTSI Philippine Golf Tour, fired a 61 at the short but hazard-laden layout while Guevarra scored a 72 for a 133 as they nipped the Basuan-Omlang pair in the countback to clinch runner-up honors.
Basuan shot a 65 while Omlang turned in a 68.
Sumcad ran away with the pro crown worth P10,000, beating Arcillas by three while Basuan placed third in the event graced by Club Intramuros chief operating officer Mark Lapid and resident manager Adelfo Mendoza III.
Liam Cully came away with a 66 to bag the overall gross crown in the amateur side with Alvin Rosal copping the overall low net plum with a 66 and Sunshine Zhang taking the ladies gross title with a 76.
