MANILA, Philippines - La Salle pooled 79 points behind seven victories in four different batches as it posted a whopping 32-point romp over Ateneo to keep the Classic Cup crown in the La Salle-Ateneo Alumni Golf Classic held at three courses at the Eagle Ridge Golf and Country Club in Gen. Trias, Cavite recently.
Edgardo Bautista scored a net 62 to clinch the Class C crown in Batch 1969-and-below, Jose Arnel Agustin assembled a 64 in Class A and Wend Go carded a 67 in Class B for triumphs in Batch 1970-79.
Former national team member Bobby Chico, also Eagle Ridge’s golf director, shot a 65 to rule Class A while Jose Val Hario fired a 64 to dominate Class C in Batch 1980-89.
Liam Patrick Cully, the youngest in the field at 15, churned out a 66 in Class A while Antonio Santos Jr. turned in a 64 in Class C of Batch 1990-and-above in the event sponsored by Solaire Resort and Casino and Belle Corp.
Backed by Pascual Consumer Health Care Corp., YSA Skin Care, Meister, Yamaha Golf and GPS Tracker, the dual meet also saw Louise Borja shoot a 68 and beat Pauline del Rosario’s 71 for the ladies plum.
Ateneo assembled a 47 with Efren Sarmiento carding a 68 in Class A and Remigio Castañeda firing a 65 in Class B in Batch 1969-and-below.
Ateneo’s Michael Miguel sizzled with a 60 to capture the Class B crown in Batch 1990-and-above while Francis Abraham made a 65 to top Class C in Batch 1970-79.
