National karting series to kick off at Carmona
MANILA, Philippines - The National Karting Super Series kicks off its new season this weekend with 40 of the country’s top karters and rising stars gearing up for a spirited battle at the Carmona Racetrack in Cavite.
Defending champion Bobby Domingo heads the cast in the ROK Senior class with the top Formula-E Racing bet also set to vie in the new ROK Shifter division, which is fast becoming a popular event in Europe.
Seaoil’s Gabe Tayao Cabrera, the 2014 Junior Karter of the Year, is also competing in both divisions along with Wayne Darvin, Lean Linao of Linao Racing Team, Jerry Choi, Carl Luig and Benjamin Grimes, guaranteeing a fierce duel in the event sanctioned by the Automobile Association Philippines and sponsored by Yokohama the official tires.
Also competing are former SQ Karters Paul Laurence Tan, Jerry Choi, Jericke Don Holganza, Ronn Catindig, Rhett Holganza, Mervin John Mallen, Chris Bendel, Marvin Sy, Francis Cruz and Guiseppe Andrighetto who will dispute the ROK Senior Expert and ROK Senior Master plums.
Jacob Ang of Eagle Cement, last season’s Clubman Karter of the Year, leads the chase for the KF Junior crown along with John Dizon, Larco Cortez, Keith Co, Mikey Jordan, Samuel Grimes, Wils Casequin, Draeco Mc/Lelland and former Cadet Karter of the Year and AAP awardee Tai Zulberti.
Other events on tap are the ROK Veteran, Formula SL Expert, Formula SL Novice, Mini-ROK, Formula Cadet Expert and Formula Cadet Novice.
Also scheduled in the two-day event is the third round of the KF3 Restricted featuring young ace Eduardo Coseteng Jr. of Eagle Cement, son of car racing champ Jody Coseteng, Rap Rap Gutierrez and defending champion Flynn Jackes and Bobby Redpath of Team Kart Master Drakar of Singapore.
The four young future champs are also competing in the Mini-ROK division.
