Diet-conscious Mayweather hires $1K-per-plate chef

MANILA, Philippines – Floyd Mayweather Jr. is making sure he’s got all bases covered leading to his showdown with Manny Pacquiao on May 2 – and that especially includes his diet.

And since the undefeated American can afford it, he has tapped the services of a personal chef who cooks for him for a ridiculous rate of $1,000 (approximately P44,000) per plate.

According to a report by TMZ Sports, the lady chef, whose name is Chef Q,  has been preparing Mayweather’s meals while the fighter is in the thick of training for his duel with Pacquiao.

"My daily schedule for Floyd is 'There is no schedule' ... I am here for him anytime. 24 hours, 7 days a week. If he needs me at 3 a.m., I am there cooking up breakfast," she said in the TMZ report.

Mayweather’s diet reportedly consists of protein, and the Las Vegas-based boxer is veering away from carbohydrates this time.

"His favorite dish is spaghetti or tacos, but for the Pacquiao fight, he'll be focusing on high-levels of protein with no carbs – turkey, chicken, beef and fish ... no pork!” Chef Q continued.

"Also, we are really big on juicing right now. So if Floyd wants something to drink, it's juiced through organic fruits," she added. "He's always been mindful of what he eats but there is something different about this fight."

Mayweather, for his part, is happy with Chef Q’s service.

“I wouldn’t exchange my chef for no (other) chef in the world,” the boxer can be heard saying in the above video.

TMZ Sports said that with about 46 days until fight night, at four meals per day, Mayweather’s bill will run to a whopping $184,000.

Mayweather obviously doesn’t mind spending a huge amount of money for food, since he is set to earn a career-high purse of at least $120 million against Pacquiao.

And that $184,000 food bill is just a drop in the bucket.
