Brewyard, Naga bets top Corp Cup

MANILA, Philippines - Brewyard Shimadsu pooled 291 points to capture the Group I crown while Haciendas de Naga dominated Group 2 with a 269 in the Camp John Hay 27th Corporate Cup at John Hay Golf Club in Baguio City last Thursday.

Allan Crisostomo (28-45), Marco Olives (50-48), Rudy Amata (46-46) and Fernando Zaldarriaga (49-52) dished out big rounds at the up-and-down par-69 layout, combining for that 291-point output from a 145 and 146 under the Molave scoring system to post a three-point victory over Repsol in the premier division of the four-to-play, three-to-count format event hosted by CJHGC.

Repsol assembled a 288 behind Mon Capistrano, Michael Miguel, Robert Ace Barbers and Mark Proceso Gabriel for second while Forest Lodge, composed of Thirdy Escaño, Jayson Yu, Shean Bedi and Bong Mandapat turned in a 277 for third.

Toyota-La Union’s Rocky Co scored a 118 to cop the individual plum in the annual event which featured the country’s top golfing firms and corporations and sponsored by The Manor at Camp John Hay, The Forest Lodge Camp John Hay, Le Chef at The Manor, Toyota Motor Philippines, Alveo and Moog Controls, are KT Glass, Isabela Golf Club and Camp John Hay Golf Club.

Haciendas de Naga also drew solid games from Emeterio Aman, Denny Gale, Erik Gilbert Smith and Mario Pradil to top Group 2 with that 269 (143-126), 11 points ahead of Rural Bankers-1 made up of Jerry Coloma, Pelagio Alcantara, Efren Leonardo and Buddy Zabat, while Cenovis/Lactacyd, behind Carlito Realuyo, Raoul Jorge, Teofilo Abejo III and Ricky de Guzman, finished third with a 246.

Cenovis/Lactacyd’s Jorge fired a 102 and ran away with the individual crown in the tournament backed by Farmers Coffee, Forest Hills, Sherwood Hills, Camp John Hay Development Corp., Manila Southwoods Golf and Country Club, Golforce, Inc., Rudy Project, Supreme Bike and RizGolf Sports Marketing.

Pugo Adventure-2 took the Group 3 plum with a 257, edging Toyota-La Union, which shot a 253, while UltraFlite RD Interior Jr. Const. placed third with a 247. Pelagio Alcantara of Rural Bankers-1 snared the individual crown with 91 points.

JW Promotions-2 carded a 261 and nipped sister team JW Promotions-1 by four to pocket the Group 4 title with Cool Jocks-2 scoring a 252 to finish third in the event supported by EED Family Realty Development Corp., International Heavy Equipment, Corp., Baguio Country Club, The Residences at Brent and Warbird Security.
