MANILA, Philippines - Defending champion Armed Forces of the Philippines and Philippine National Police dispute the last quarterfinal incentive tomorrow at the close of the second round elims of the third UNTV Cup at the Ynares Sports Arena.
Gametime is set at 4:30 p.m. with the winner going to the next round as the No. 4 team with a twice-to-beat advantage.
The PNP Responders are sporting a fourth-best 5-2 card while the Cavaliers tote a fifth-best 4-3 record.
Actually, tomorrow’s game is the start of their best-of-three series since they will also be facing each other in the next round irregardless of the result of their match.
Clashing in the opening game at 3 p.m. are Department of Justice and Metro Manila Development Authority.
Also gaining a twice-to-beat edge in the quarters is the Kenneth Duremdes-mentored Senate which finished the elims with a 6-2 card.
The Senate Defenders battle the winner in the DOJ-MMDA clash.
PNP can forge a three-way tie for second with Judiciary and Senate if it beats AFP. If that happens, Judiciary will clinch an outright semis berth with a superior quotient.
Malacañang took the first outright semis berth by downing Judiciary, 69-65, last Sunday, for a 7-1 card.
