Joey Villar, Nelson Beltran - The Philippine Star

PUERTO PRINCESA, Philippines – The PBA board of governors will try to convince commissioner Chito Salud to stay on his post while appointing a deputy commissioner that will help run the league and make the job of the commissioner less taxing.

This is one of the top proposals the PBA board would discuss in a meeting this afternoon at the Aziza Hotel here in the sideline of the 26th PBA All-Star festivities.

Under the proposal, the commissioner will serve as chief executive officer and the deputy commissioner as chief operating officer. Department heads will be reporting to the commissioner.

Meanwhile, national coach Tab Baldwin yesterday named 16 players, including naturalized player Marcus Douthit, to the pool from which the Gilas Pilipinas team competing in the coming Southeast Asian Basketball Championship and the Southeast Asian Games will be formed.

The SEABA is set April 27-May 1 and the SEA Games is scheduled June 9-15, both in Singapore.
