Perpetual beach volley team sees big NCAA finish

MANILA, Philippines - After completing a sweep of National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA) Juniors Volleyball event, the University of Perpetual Help System Dalta (UPHSD) can’t wait to win another one – in beach volleyball.

Players and coaches of women’s, men’s and juniors teams expressed confidence that the school can go for a kill this season 90 of NCAA beach volleyball tournament set  Feb. 11-15 at the Baywalk inside Subic Bay in Olongapo City.

Indoor volleyball MVP Ricky Marcos together with Jody Severo and EJ Casana of Junior Altas handled by coach Sandy Rieta will try to reclaim lost glory the last two seasons to ICA-EAC and Arellano Junior Chiefs. The Altalettes won season 86 and 87 under coach Miguel Rafael.

The men’s team of multi-titled coach Sinfronio “Sammy” Acaylar bannered by Rey Taneo and Jack Kalingking will try to bounce back from the loss last season to College of St. Benilde led by power-hitting Johnvic De Guzman. The Altas men’s team won the crown last season 88 under Jay Dela Cruz and Sandy Montero.

The Lady Altas, led by Jamela Suyat and libero Vhima Condada, together with James Diocareza seek to retain the women’s championship with the services of Cavite spikers Jane Diaz and April Sartin.
