MANILA, Philippines - Centro Escolar University-Café France launches its title-retention bid against Adamson University as the Smart-PCABL Dickies Cup stages its fourth season with a three-game bill tomorrow at the Buddhacare Academy gym in Quezon City.
With the acquisition of several promising players, the Lady Scorpions are confident and excited to defend their crown against five other teams who are all preparing for their respective collegiate leagues.
Aside from CEU and Adamson, also taking part in the women’s basketball tournament are Ateneo, Far Eastern University (FEU), University of Santo Tomas (UST), and University of the East (UE).
CEU and Adamson clash in the opening game at 10 a.m. while the San Miguel Corporation-backed Ateneo tests the mettle of FEU at 1:15 p.m.
Also worth watching is the 11:30 a.m. showdown between UST and UE – two teams aching to spoil CEU’s back-to-back bid in the tournament presented by Dickies, CW Home Depot, Powerhouse, K-Tech Sports, Inc., Dickies Underwear and Jumbo Plastic Linoleum.
American Star Apparel Philippines CEO Jose Atienza has been invited to make the ceremonial toss.
Also expected to grace the opening ceremony are Smart Sports Foundation officials led by Debbie Tan and Christopher Quimpo.
Tournament format calls for a double round elims with the No. 1 and 2 teams securing a twice-to-beat advantage in the semis.
