ICTSI kiteboarding tour fires off in Cagayan

MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine Kiteboarding Association kicks off the ICTSI Philippine Kiteboarding Tour-Season 2 today with the country’s top riders and foreign aces vying for top honors at the white sand beaches of Anguib in Sta. Ana, Cagayan Valley.

PKA president Jay Ortiz said this year’s tour will consist of four legs and feature new destination stops in the PKA’s continuing effort to promote the sport and showcase the Philippines as one of Asia’s top kitesurfing destinations.

“This tour is aimed not only to produce future kiteboarding champions, who can represent us in various international competitions but also to promote the sport and the country’s pristine beaches, exotic locations, and great tourist and food attractions,” said Ortiz.

He added that top riders from Asia and Europe will spice up action in the event sponsored by top port operator International Container Terminal Services, Inc.

Ortiz is also one of the top contenders in the men’s seniors twin-tip class of the three-day event organized by PKA.

The tour, which offers cash prize of $10,000 for each leg on top of Cabrinha Kites and LiP Sunglasses, will feature three kitesurfing events, including Race, Hangtime (longest airtime) and Freestyle.

Meanwhlie, the PKA tour participants graced the Sunsoaked 2015 of the second Ilocos Sur Beach Festival in Puro, Magsingal, Ilocos Sur yesterday.

From Anguib Beach the circuit will move to Boracay for the second leg at the Bulabog Beach on Feb. 6-8 with Daet, Camarines Norte hosting the third stage on Feb. 13-15 at the Bagasbas Beach.

The tour will wind up in Puerto Princesa, Palawan on March 6-8. 

The circuit is backed by kitesurfing equipment brand Cabrinha, and LiP Sunglasses, Coca- Cola, Powerade, and supported by Cagayan Grand Adventure and Leisure, Cagayan Economic Zone Authority (CEZA), North Cagayan Gaming and Amusement Corp., First Cagayan Leisure and Resorts Corp., Meridian Vista Gaming Corp., Delimondo and Xin Tian Di Resort.
