NCA kicks off derby season

MANILA, Philippines - The National Cockers Alliance braces for another explosive season as it holds a six-cock derby today with 100 fights on tap at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.

The event, sponsored by Sagupaan Complexor, marks the start of another season for the country’s premier derby circuit with Rene Medina and Eric dela Rosa as hosts and Danny Lim and Bong Pineda heading the cast of cockers and breeders.

Others fielding in their top entries are Gov. Ito Ynares, Patrick Antonio, the Firefly Group, Tommy Chua, Osang dela Cruz, Elan Nagano, Danny Soriano, Ronnie Puno, Joel Teves, Harold Ramos, Mario Villamor, Atong Ang, Luding Boongaling, Eugene Martin and Efren Canlas.

Meanwhile, part of the proceeds of all NCA derbies goes to the NCA scholarship fund for college students at the UP Los Baños.

The next NCA derby will be held Jan. 6 with Chua, Dela Cruz and Nagano as hosts.
