Fil-Australian Jackes retains Asian crown
MANILA, Philippines - Flynn Jackes is on a roll.
The Fil-Australian, who is coming off scintillating wins at the Carmona Race Track in September and at the Clark International Speedway the following month in the KF3 Restricted Class, kept his Mini-Rok Class crown in the 2014 Asian Karting Championship last weekend.
“The goal was to win the Mini-Rok championship again in 2014, and I’m very happy to have achieved that considering the tougher field this year and the maturation of everyone in the class,” said Jackes.
Keeping his Asian title may have been Jackes’ crowning glory in a young career already replete with countless awards.
A spearhead of the new local satellite of Team Kart Master Drakar of Singapore, Jackes was the local Mini-Rok Class 2012 winner, while placing third in the Asian Championship.
The following year, he improved his standing in winning the Asian Championship following brilliant finishes in races in the Philippines, Macau and Singapore. Also in 2013, Jackes won rounds 5 and 6 of the SKC Singapore Championship at the Changi Race Circuit.
His achievements last year won for him several AAP Motorsports Awards for winning the National Series and Asian Championship. Early this year, he was presented the “Boy Ochoa Award” during the Golden Wheel Awards.
