Angara, Patrimonio to play in 'Isang Silya' charity game

MANILA, Philippines – Sen. Sonny Angara and PBA Hall of Famer Alvin Patrimonio have agreed to take part in a fundraising activity whose objective is to raise more mono bloc chairs for Judge Juan Luna High School, a public institution in Quezon City.

The two confirmed their participation during JJLHS' second Grand Alumni Homecoming on December 6 at the Quezon Memorial Circle.

Angara, a staunch supporter of education and sports, accepted the plea of Patrimonio, a four-time PBA Most Valuable Player, to play in an exhibition game.

Patrimonio, who will be the import of the JJLHS Alumni Ambassadors and will take over the spot of alumnus Samboy Lim, asked Angara and his Senate Defenders to play in a benefit game in this event supported by Alaska Milk, Maynilad, Meralco, NLEX, Smart Sports, Blackwater and Asia Brewery. 

The two teams will play in an exhibition game as a way to raise more mono bloc chairs. A total of 1,500 mono bloc chairs are needed by JJLHS in time for next year’s graduation rites.

So far, different batches have already poured in their support, be it in cash or actual mono bloc chairs. More than 500 chairs have already been raised since the program started and just recently, San Miguel Holdings through Uratex donated 100 additional mono bloc chairs while the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office had also made its commitment.

Angara’s Senate Defenders are regular participant in the UNTV Cup and is being coached by former PBA Most Valuable Player Kenneth Duremdes, one of the league’s all-time greatest players.
