MANILA, Philippines - A whopping P1-million in prizes await the winners of the PCSO Special 2-Year-Old Maiden Race set this afternoon at the MetroTurf in Malvar, Tanauan, Batangas.
The top prize in this race sponsored by the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office is P600,000, which will be disputed by the 10 officially declared entries – Superv to be ridden by CS Pare and owned by Edward Tan; Mayday – Deo Fernandez of MF Farms Inc.; Thunder Maxx – Chris Garganta of Manuel de Asis; Princess Jem – Jeffrey Bacaycay of Antonio Callejas; Valenzuela – Jeffril Zarate of Kon. Ferdie Eusebio; Song of Songs – Jonathan Hernandez of Mayor Benhur Abalos Jr.; Boy Harabas – Jigger Paano of Jab Fer Farms Inc.; Right As Rain – Fernando Raquel Jr. of Juancho Ferariza; Oh Neng – Jordan Cordova ofJose Villanueva; and Cat’s Dream – Alvin Guce of SC Stockfarm Inc.
The race will be disputed over the 1,400-meter distance with the runner-up and third placer receiving P225,000 and P125,000, respectively. The breeder of the winning horse also receives a bonus of P50,000.
Song Of Songs, owned by Mandaluyong Mayor Benhur Abalos Jr., was the winner in the Sweepstakes Trial held late last month at the MetroTurf. But racing experts believe that the rest of the field is capable of coming up with a respectable performance this afternoon.
The PCSO also sponsors one other race for Group 3 runners with an added prize of P100,000.
PCSO chairman and general manager Jose Ferdinand Rojas II is expected to grace the event together with the other top officials of the office.
