Zaragosa links up with De Claro for Nat’l Doubles
MANILA, Philippines - Rupert Zaragosa teams up with JP De Claro as they gear up for the NGAP’s fourth National Doubles championship presented by the MVP Sports Foundation set to blast Tuesday at the Eastridge Golf Club in Binangonan, Rizal.
Zaragosa, winner of various national singles titles, guns for another first in his career in tandem with De Claro against an expected big field at the ravine-laced layout.
Miggy Yee and AR Ramos triumphed in the centerpiece Group I last year by a stroke over the Jonar Austria-GJ Katigbak tandem with a 305 total but the defending champions have yet to sign up this year.
Jed Dy and Ryan Monsalve won Group II and will be playing in the premier division this year. Monsalve, playing out of Southwoods, and Dy, who represented Ayala Alabang, tallied 333 points last season, also at Eastridge.
This will be the organizing National Golf Association of the Philippines’ final event for the year with the PLDT Group as backer.
The three-day event will have teams playing two-ball foursome on Day 1, four-ball best ball in the second round and aggregate in the final day.
An interesting team to watch would be the Larry Patnongon-Jude Eustaquio with the latter seeing action in his first national amateur event since reverting back last year.
Jobim Carlos, who shares stellar billing with Zaragosa as the country’s premier amateur, is also expected to link up with Inigo Raymundo.
