Gutierrez, Naval top Southwoods seniors trimester golf tourney

MANILA, Philippines - Danny Gutierrez came through with 42 points then nipped Willy Princesa in the countback to capture the Class A crown while Mario Naval ruled Class B in the Seniors Trimester Birthday Bash and Christmas tournament at the Manila Southwoods’ Masters course recently.

Gutierrez, an 11 handicapper, turned in a gross 75 worth 42 points under the Stableford scoring system to edge Princesa, who also carded a 42 from a gross 77, in the countback in the last nine holes in the event presented by Megafiber Psyllium Fiber and Goutritis Herbal Supplement.

Naval also made 42 points from a gross 80 then foiled Nilo San Juan with a lower handicap of 14, to cop the Class B plum in the tournament backed by hole-in-one sponsors Wilson Sports and Yamaha by Kart Plaza. San Juan, an 18 handicapper, shot a gross 84.

Jose de Leon carded a 98 worth 40 points and took the Class C crown via a one-point win over Rolando Dizon, who had a 39 from a gross 97.

Brian Park took the nearest to the pin honors (2 feet on No. 13) while Rusty Marcelo hit the longest drive (309 yards on No. 1) in the 18-hole tournament back by Megaricton Commercial and Industrial Corp., R.L. Centeno Painting Contractor, CSL Construction Corp., Purefoods Tender Juicy Giant Hotdog, Caramba Foods Corp., Foodenizer, Inc., Global Lighting Phils., Inc. Mit-Air Sales Center and Camp John Hay Coffee Services.
