Roger Federer to make IPTL debut in India

MANILA, Philippines – World Number 2 and 17-time Grand Slam Singles champion Roger Federer is set to debut for the Micromax Indian Aces as the International Premier Tennis League enters Day 8 of the tournament on Sunday.

Before the Aces battle the DBS Singapore Slammers starting 7:30 p.m. (India time), the Manila Mavericks and the Musafir.com UAE Royals will duke it out at 4 p.m.

After the first day of the India leg of the IPTL, the Aces remained the rankings leader with 24 points, followed by the Royals with 21. The Mavericks (19 points) and the Slammers (15 points) are in the bottom half of the rankings.

Fabrice Santoro, the Aces' team captain, said Federer will team up with Pete Sampras to play a doubles set for the team. Federer and Sampras have seven Wimbledon championships each.
