Adamson, NU, UP pace women’s college softball

MANILA, Philippines - Defending champion Adamson University buckled down to work early and dominated Bulacan State University, 11-0, before routing University of the East, 6-1, to force a three-way tie for the lead in the 2014 Cebuana Lhuillier Women’s Intercollegiate Softball championship recently.

University of the Philippines and National University kept pace with with the San Marcelino-based squad at 2-0 with the former holding sway to thwart Ateneo de Manila, 8-6, then repulsing a stubborn University of Sto. Tomas side, 6-4, at the Sto. Niño softball field in Marikina City.

The NU lady batters also pulled off a closely-fought game against the UE side, 4-3, before stamping their class and blasting the BSU softbelles, 6-0.

Rizal Technological University, meanwhile, debuted with a 5-4 win over Ateneo in the tournament backed by the Marikina city government and Cebuana Pera Padala, Cebuana Lhuillier Insurance Solutions, Phiten, Le Soleil de Boracay and Just Jewels.
