Elorde battles Haryanto tonight

MANILA, Philippines - Juan Miguel Elorde, grandson of the great Gabriel “Flash” Elorde, slugs it out with Indonesian Oke Haryanto tonight in the main bout of the “Boxing Kontra Droga” card at the Grand Ballroom of the Elorde Sports Center in Sucat Road, Parañaque City.

Juan Miguel’s elder brother Juan Martin was supposed to headline the card but the latter fell ill one week before the fight, forcing promoter Johnny Elorde to call off his defense of his WBO Asia Pacific super featherweight crown in the fightcard presented by Johnny Elorde Management International in cooperation with the City Government of Parañaque and the Rotary Club of Manila 101.

Johnny Elorde informed WBO vice president Leon Panoncillo to allow the fight to be moved to a later date to give Juan Martin time to fully recover.

Juan Martin was scheduled to fight Japanese Hirotsugu Yamamoto for 12 rounds for his second defense of the crown he won last March 25, 2013.
