MANILA, Philippines - Inaugural champion Judiciary drew big games from John Hall and former PBA player Don Camaso to down Senate, 83-75, and gain a share of the early lead in the third UNTV Cup at the Makati Coliseum last Thursday.

The 6-foot-1 Hall displayed near-flawless shooting, making nine of his 12 attempts to lead the Magis with 24 points aside from pulling down five rebounds, while Camaso scattered 13 points and also had five boards to help the team spoil the coaching debut of former PBA star Kenneth Duremdes.

Ariel Capus, another former PBA cager, added 12 markers on a 6-of-15 shooting from the field as the Magis forged an early three-way tie for the lead in Group B with defending champion Armed Forces of the Philippines and Metro Manila Development Authority.

The MMDA Black Wolves, on the other hand, got 23 and 22 points from Joether Mallare and Ermel Idria, respectively, to whip the GSIS Furies, 87-77.

The Black Wolves hit six triples and dominated the boards, 32-18.

In the lone Group A match, Malacañang subdued the Bureau of Fire and Protection, 70-65.

Marlon Berganio sizzled with 16 points while Samuel Ignacio and Greg Malapit chipped in 11 markers apiece as the Malacañang Patriots tied Philippine National Police for Group A lead in the 11-team tournament that offers P1.5 million to the champion.
