The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Surfers from Siargao Islands and La Union ruled the recent 12th Lanuza Surfing Festival at the Doot Poktoy Surfing Paradise in this Pacific coastal town in Surigao del Sur.

Led by veteran Edito “Piso” Alcala, the Siargao contingent led the charge in the Shortboard men’s category along with John Mark Toking and Peter Paul Alipayo who copped first and third-runner up places, respectively. Alcala is back-to-back winner in the prestigious Siargao International Surfing Cup, the country’s top surfing tournament, which is held in Gen. Luna every September.
