MANILA, Philippines - Horse racing aficionados can look forward to an exciting weekend with the fourth leg of the Philracom Juvenile Colts Stakes Race slated today at Santa Ana Park Naic racecourse.
The culminating leg of the Juvenile Colts stakes series is a one-mile race featuring the best juvenile horses in the country today and which are likely to emerge as future track champions.
Runners include Alakdan, Apple Du Zap, Cat Express, Heavenly Fields, Icon, Jebel Ali, Karangalan, King of Less, Sky Hook, and The Scheduler.
This year’s fourth leg is being held in honor of Santiago Cua, a noted businessman, philanthropist, one of the pillars of the racing industry for the last 20 years and currently chairman emeritus of the Philippine Racing Club.
Sponsored by the Philippine Racing Commission, the race will have a total gross prize of P1.5 million distributed to the first to fourth placers, including a breeder’s prize of P60,000 to the winning horse.
A companion race– the fourth leg of the Philracom Juvenile Fillies Race – was held yesterday, also at Santa Ana Park with similar distance and horse prizes.
Also slated to run at Santa Ana Park on Nov. 21 is the Chairman Emeritus Santiago Cua Trophy Race. Sponsored by the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office, the special race will carry an additional prize of P100,000 to the winning horse.
