Manila-to-Tagaytay bike challenge Nov. 29
MANILA, Philippines - Cyclists from all levels will have their day when the Manila to Tagaytay Bike Challenge rolls off Nov. 29 from the Remedios Circle in Malate.
Organizers expect over 200 riders to participate in the one-day event that will help promote health and wellness and local tourism as well.
Philip Aquino Pacle, the race director, said cyclists, whether in the elite or amateur level, are invited to join the event along with hobbyists and even parents and children.
The main event will cover 64 kms starting from the Remedios Circle. It will be a rolling start for the participants until they reach Sucat Road where marshals will flag them off for the start of the race to Tagaytay.
The growing folding bike community will also join the event with their own 18 km ride from Silang Bypass to Tagaytay. Kids will have their own races along Mahogany Street in Tagaytay.
Pacle told the PSA Forum at Shakey’s Malate that Philcycling president and former Tagaytay City mayor Abraham Tolentino has given the event the go-signal.
Joining Pacle in the weekly forum sponsored by Shakey’s, Accel and Pagcor are fellow organizers Jones Campos, Joe Decapia and Manny Ojerio.
Campos, the event’s marketing director, said over P35,000 in cash prizes await the winners in the different events lined up for the day.
“This is a bike fun event. We hope the people will come because the main objective is wellness,” said Campos, adding that motorcycle and stationary marshals are out to ensure a smooth and safe ride for the participants.
