La Salle-Zobel guns for Midgets sweep

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Winner of two divisions, La Salle-Zobel tries to make it a three-division conquest as it guns for the Midgets 1 title against Ateneo in the concluding leg of the ICTSI-JGFP Inter-school golf championships tomorrow at the Eastridge Golf Club course in Binangonan.

La Salle-Zobel is ahead on points in four rounds with 592 against the 581 of Ateneo but with the worst round out of five games cancelled out in the final tabulation, the Greenies still need to beat the Blues in the final round to secure the championship and a Midgets double.

La Salle-Zobel is already assured of victories in the Midgets 2 the final round of which will also be held tomorrow at South Links as well as the senior division of the tourney backed mainly by the International Container Terminal Services, Inc. Foundation.

DLSZ enjoys a big lead over Ateneo in Midgets 2 and also is ahead by a wide margin over Xavier in juniors play.

Ateneo, Assumption and Immaculate Concepcion Academy have the girls divisions titles all wrapped up while Lyceum of the Philippines University-Cavite appears unreachable in the senior division of the tourney also sponsored by the Philippine Golf Foundation, Martin Lorenzo, Golf Depot and Inquirer Golf.

Ateneo enjoys a 60-point lead over La Salle-Taft in Girls 1, Assumption is up by 46 over St. Paul’s Pasig in Girls 2 and ICA will bring an 82-point advantage over La Salle Zobel to the final round of Girls 3 on Nov. 16.

It’s going to be a walk in the park for LPU-Cavite, meanwhile, which will crown itself the new senior champion on Nov. 23 after racing to a 93-point lead over College of St. Benilde.
