Zubiri, Smith embark on Cannonball adventure

MANILA, Philippines - Actress Diana Zubiri sets out for a new adventure as she teams up with host and model Andy Smith in the car event of the Cannonball 1000 Endurance Run set Jan. 9 in Clark, Pampanga.

The Cannonball 1000 is open to all cars and motorcycles with displacements of 301 cc and above to ride along the scenic North Luzon loop with participants to tackle winding roads and route of over 1,000 kilometers under a time limit of only 24 hours.

For this challenging task, each car is allowed a driver and a co-driver to change places when either one needs rest. The honor to be named finisher awaits all participants in the adventure motorsports event organized by six-time endurance champion Joey Almeda.

Cannonball 1000, backed by TA Marketing, Inc., distributor of Ducati Motorcycles in the Philippines, will flag-off from Widus Hotel and Casino in Clark.

Participants will pass through towns of Baloc, Ilagan, Tuguegarao, Aparri, Pagudpud, Laoag, Vigan, La Union, Baguio and Tarlac before coming full circle in Clark.

The cast has already lured some prominent personalities, such as Danby Henares, host of the TV show Xtreme Riders, seasoned long-distance Fil-Am rider Rene Marquez and GMA Kapuso star Richard Gutierrez.

Underbones and scooters pegged at 300cc and below will fall under a class of their own, the Cannonball 500, which will be tracing a similar but more compact route of 500 kms under a 12-hour time limit.

The special Cannonball Group Event will be composed of 10 riders for each team to get on any bike of their choosing (open class) and ride together as one group.
