Anton fastest but son steals show
MANILA, Philippines - Castrol-Yokohama champion driver Carlos Anton ended the “Final Showdown” race the way he started in Circuit Showdown four years ago, with the “fastest time of the day” recently at the Clark International Speedway.
Anton, on board the 800 horsepower Mark Young-WorksBell Nissan GTR dubbed “Markzilla,” clocked 2 min 1.990 over a chasing Joby Tanseco in a 991 Porsche Turbo-S.
Anton’s lap was fast but it was his 10-year-old son Inigo who stole the show by outclassing over 80 of the 105 racers from all the different race brackets. The young Anton did a blistering time of 2:23.627 on board the Ethanworxs-JSD prepared Honda EG, a time which propelled him from bracket F to bracket C driver.
The Antons are sponsored by Yokohama, Castrol, Worksbell Brakes Japan, Cars Unlimited, Mark Young Racing, Ethanworx, Autoshack, Special Stage, JSD Autosport, and Fixstop.
“Inigo drove a great race today and his progress is just skyrocketing. He has been a consistent podium finisher in the lower brackets but now in only his fifth race he is already among the top 20 fastest drivers in the series,” Anton said of his son.
