MANILA, Philippines - The DELeague Season 4 kicks off tomorrow with 12 teams, led by two-time defending champion Hobe Bihon and former titlist Sta. Lucia, clashing for top honors at the Marikina Sports Center basketball gym in Marikina.
Kawasaki-Marikina and Supremo Builders open hostilities at 5 p.m. after the 4 p.m. opening rites while Hobe Bihon and Sta. Lucia Land duel in the 7 p.m. match tipped to go down-to-the-wire.
Other teams vying in the event are Siargao Legends, FEU-NMRF, Uratex Foam, MBL Selection, Philippine National Police, Cars Unlimited, Sealions and Team Mercenary.
Supported by Marikina Mayor Del de Guzman, the league features former PBA players and collegiate stars from the UAAP and NCAA.
“We have witnessed exciting matches during the third DELeague. Expect more as the league enters its fourth season,” said De Guzman.
Meanwhile, the Best Muse will be named after the elaborate opening rites of the event backed by PCA Marivalley, St. Anthony Hospital, CLJ Properties, PS Bank Blue Wave Marquinton Branch, Luyong Restaurant Concepcion, Mickies Equipment Sales and Rental, Tutor 911 and Toyota Motors Marikina.
At stake is the top purse of P200,000 plus a trophy while the runner-up will receive P100,000.
Ex-PBA stars Willie Miller, Ali Peek, Danny Seigle, Kiko Adriano, Marlou Aquino, EJ Feihl, Jerome Ejercito, Leo Avenido, Nick Belasco and Don Camaso are all expected to see action.
“We are inviting everyone to support this year’s DELeague. We assure fans and spectators that the games are worth more than the P10 entrance fee,” said De Guzman.
