NCAA junks San Beda’s protest, upholds win by Perpetual
MANILA, Philippines – The NCAA Management Committee on Friday denied the protest by San Beda while upholding Perpetual Help's 76-75 victory over the former Monday.
"After deliberating on the protest of San Beda College and hearing the explanation made by all parties, Mancom decided to deny the protest and affirm the result of the game," Mancom chair Paul Supan said in a statement.
The Lions' contention was the non-call of the 24-second violation that the Altas allegedly committed late in the third quarter, eventually paving the way for a Joel Jolangcob triple right at the end of the period.
Interestingly, Perpetual Help won its game over Emilio Aguinaldo College via forfeiture due to lack of players the same day before the Mancom made the decision.
Thanks to the pair of wins, the Las Pinas-based dribblers have jumped from a share of fourth spot with the Jose Rizal Bombers (9-6) to solo hold of it with a 10-6 mark.
