Wushu gives PHL 1st medals in Asiad

INCHEON, South Korea – Francisco Solis gave PHL its first medal in the 17th Asian Games after winning his quarterfinal bout in the men's 56 kg Sanda in Wushu vs Ting Hong Wong of HKG on Monday at Ganghwa Dolmens Gymnasium here.

Solis will face China's Zhao Fuxiang in the semifinals on Tuesday.

Solis, who won a bronze medal in the Southeast Asian Games last year, earlier defeated Rehman Shams of Pakistan in Round of 16.

Team Lakay's Jean Claude Saclag joined Solis in the medal round with a 2-0 win vs Hendrik Tarigan of Indonesia in the men's 60 kg Sanda quarterfinals.

In the distaff side, Divine Wally fell to Kim Hyebin in the quarterfinals of the women's 52 kg Sanda.
