LINGAYEN, Pangasinan, Philippines – The Sangguniang Panlalawigan members approved a resolution commending Gilas Pilipinas cager Marc Pingris from Pozorrubio town for bringing honor not only to the country but also to his home province of Pangasinan.

Provincial Board Resolution No. 780-2014, passed during the regular session held here on Sept. 8 and authored by fifth district board member Danilo Uy, lauded Pingris for contributing greatly to the success of Gilas Pilipinas team that competed in the FIBA World Cup in Spain.

The provincial board members will invite Pingris to personally receive the province’s commendation.

Meanwhile, in a congratulatory message posted on the official Facebook fan page of the province, Gov. Amado Espino Jr. said Pingris has become an inspiration to the people of Pangasinan, especially the youth, for earning his success in basketball through hard work and passion to excel.

Espino admired Gilas Team’s unique brand of basketball which jolted their fancied opponents despite being the smallest team in the competition as he lauded their indomitable fighting spirit dubbed as “PUSO.”

He said Marc Pingris, one of the prominent Gilas stars, showed great energy and determination in the face of renowned basketball giants in the world.
