R.O.X. donates bike racks to Pampanga High School

MANILA, Philippines - In line with its commitment to promote outdoor sports and at the same time help and create environmental awareness, Recreational Outdoor eXchange (R.O.X.) staged “Bike For A Cause” last Aug. 30 at the Clark Parade Grounds in Pampanga.

The event was the highlight and culminating activity for the  R.O.X. Bike Fair’s month-long celebration that started with Bike Out, a series of bike ride activities with different bike groups  in Manila, Cebu, Cagayan De Oro and Bacolod.

Around 800 bikers from Central Luzon and Manila gathered and pedaled together in Clark last Saturday to support R.O.X.’s cause to donate bike racks for the students of Pampanga High School in San Fernando, Pampanga.

“Last year, when we released the initial announcement about the event, bikers from Pampanga left a message through our Facebook page and suggested if we could consider Pampanga High School as our beneficiary. We immediately called up the school and through their admin officer (Leo Cortez), we decided to make the school the beneficiary of our event, ” said R.O.X. marketing and communications officer Mary Anne Oriondo.

Pampanga High School is composed of more than 9,000 high school students with most of them taking their bikes to school. Last year, R.O.X. donated two sets of bike racks, and from this year’s significant increase in number of participants, R.O.X. was able to donate another three sets of bike racks (a total of five bike racks that can accommodate 50 bicycles) from this year’s proceeds of Bike For A Cause.

R.O.X. raffled special prizes from sponsors and partners for the participants. The route was designed and organized by Hubble Multisport and the event was supported by Primer Group of Companies, Fox, Osprey, Nalgene, Timbuk2, Columbia, Mountain Hardwear, Keen, Clark Development Corporation, The Lensmith Vision Artisan,  8A Performance, Spyder, Deuter and POCARI Sweat.
