MANILA, Philippines -- Come August 30, the Philippines will be sharing the world basketball stage in the much-awaited FIBA World Cup in Spain after a 40-year absence in the prestigious international basketball tournament, and TV5 stands at the forefront of rallying for the national team by bringing the EXCLUSIVE LIVE free-TV airing of all the Gilas Pilipinas games to millions of Filipino fans across the country.

But before Gilas Pilipinas heads into the biggest tournament in the world, the team will be playing tune-up games in Europe against the best international teams of Angola, Australia, Ukraine, Egypt, and France – dubbed “Gilas Pilipinas vs The World.” The series of games will be EXCLUSIVELY seen on TV5.

Finally, the 2014 FIBA World Cup in Spain officially opens on August 30 with TV5 as the ONLY Free TV channel with LIVE coverage of Gilas Pilipinas games, starting with Croatia at 6:30pm, followed by the Gilas Pilipinas game agains Greece on September 1 at 2:00am, and versus Argentina at 11:30pm, also on September 1. Puerto Rico is the team’s opponent on September 3 at 7:30pm, while the game against Senegal caps off the preliminary round on September 4 at 8:00pm.
