Brodett reclaims Southwoods seniors crown

MANILA, Philippines - Butch Brodett fired 43 points then nipped Poch Hernandez in the countback to regain the Class A crown while Kas Jamias took the Class B plum in the Manila Southwoods Seniors Trimester Birthday Bash golf tournament 2014 presented by Megafiber and Goutritis at the Manila Southwoods’ Masters Course in Carmona, Cavite recently.

Brodett, a 10-handicapper and perennial winner in the annual event organized by the Manila Southwoods Seniors Chapter headed by president/tournament chairman Francisco Gonzalez and vice president Rod Pepito, carded a three-over 75 in stroke play worth 43 points under the Stableford scoring system to frustrate Hernandez in the premier section (0-14).

Hernandez also assembled 43 points from a 76 but yielded the crown with a higher handicap of 11 in the 18-hole tournament presented by Megafiber Psyllium Fiber and Goutritis Herbal Supplement and backed by hole-in-one sponsor Wilson Sports.

Jamias, with a 15 handicap, also won via countback in Class B (15-28), shooting 42 points from an 81 and edging Ric Bernabe, a 22-handicapper, who turned in an 88 worth 42 points.

Jose de Leon bagged the Class C title with 47 points from a gross of 89, beating Raul Tuason, who scored 39 points from a gross of 93 in the 18-hole tournament backed by hole sponsors Am-Europharma/Surechoice, Asia Pacific Golf Corp., Boracay Sands Hotel, Camp John Hay Golf Club, Red Eagle Lending Investors Corp., Resorts World Manila, Romago, Inc., Rudy Project Phils., Sherwood Hills Golf Club, The Manor @ Camp John Hay, Tocoms Phils. Warbird Security, Foodenizer, Inc. Camp John Hay Coffee Services and Caramba Foods Corp.
