Cars figure in tight finish in Circuit Showdown

MANILA, Philippines - Round 6 of the Circuit Showdown series was extra tight with the Time Trial racers pushing their cars and their driving skills to the limits recently at the Batangas Racing Circuit.

Miko Maristela took home top honors with the fastest time of the day in the fastest brackets (Bracket A and R) followed by Rafael La O’ and Ferdie Sia.

The battle for the podium finishes was extra close in Bracket B won by Trek Mendoza followed by Michael Bryan Co and Nino Garcia.

Winner in Bracket C was Iain Macdonald, who  extended his lead in Bracket C over Ike Palinar and Doc. Vic Edillon. The other top three winners were Jerico Tiu, Lesley Tuazon and Al King dela Cruz (Bracket D), Ron Valero, Antonio Brias and Chad Parian ( Bracket E), Lester Shih, Paolo Lofamia and Marco Palinar  (Bracket F) and Alan Santos, Cres Licarlde and Marc Thomann (Bracket G).

In the BRZ/GT86 club class, it was Pauland Dumlao followed by Paul Cusi and Sergei Castro.

Rafael La O’ took the top step of the podium in Grid A followed by Ferdie Sia and Miko Maristela.

The other winners were Nino Garcia, Eduardo Pujol and Jun Cabrera (Grid B),  Kitz Ferrer, Jem Querimit and Jerico Tiu (Grid C) and Paolo Lofamia, Pen Abueg and Cres Liceralde (Grid D).

Meanwhile,  car manufacturer BYD paraded a new entry in the second leg of the Philippine Micro Series. The BYD F0 was driven by Keith Bryan Haw who came in second to winner Marc Thomann in his Toyota Wigo. Macky Canete came in third with his Suzuki Cappuccino.

The series resumes with Round 7 at the Tarlac Race Track on Sept. 6.
