PSBA to host Season 13 of UCAA

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine School of Business Administration will host the 13th season of the Universities and College Athletics Association.

School representative Tisha Abundo of PSBA, who was named president of the UCAA this school year, said this following a board meeting recently.

The season gets going on Sept. 6, with the basketball games commencing at the Blue Eagle gym in Katipunan Ave., Quezon City.

Atty. Benjamin Paulino, school president of PSBA, will lead the opening rites at 8 a.m.

Eight schools are participating this year.

Rizal Technological University, which will defend its crown in men’s basketball, is now a regular member with PSBA, Manuel L. Quezon University, Philippine Nautical and Technological College and  Olivarez College.

Polytechnical University of the Philippines is a new member, while Trinity University of Asia is coming back.

Two members, De La Salle University-Dasmariñas and Emilio Aguinaldo College-Cavite, are taking a leave of absence.

“RTU will have its hands full defending its crown this season as the rest of the field have silently boosted their rosters. We expect exciting ballgames because of the competitive nature of the field,” said Abundo, a former Commissioner of the Philippine Sports Commission.

Last year, the RTU  Blue Thunder came away with  a 66-62 stopping of defending champion Olivarez College for the men’s basketball crown at their home-court -- the RTU gymnasium in Mandaluyong.
