FEU cops Petron volley title

DASMARINAS, Cavite, Philippines - – High-leaping Bernadette Pons claimed her second crown as she and partner Charm Simborio showed how deadly they can get with their jump spikes.

They stunned their foes with their relentless attacks in the second set, allowing the Far Eastern University standouts to clinch the third-leg title of the 2014 Petron Ladies’ Beach Volleyball tournament.

Overcoming an 11-all deadlock in the final set, Pons and Simborio eked out a 21-13, 21-14 conquest of Emilio Aguinaldo College-1’s Charmille Belleza and Clara Camille Lozada in their best-of-three finals showdown at the sand courts of the De La Salle-Health Sciences Institute in Dasmariñas, Cavite.

The FEU belles clinched a finals seat after they disposed of Emilio Aguinaldo College-2’s Yvonne Reyes and Arnie Yumul, 21-18.

Belleza and Lozada earned the right to fight for the crown against the Lady Tams when they avenged their elimination-round loss to University of the East duo Francislyn Cais and Krycel Cueva, 21-16.
