UP Law Class ’89 hosts Malcolm Cup

MANILA, Philippines - The UP Law Class 89 will stage the Malcolm (Madness) Cup on July 24 at the Splendido Taal Golf and Country Club in Tagaytay with a huge field expected to see action in the traditional golf fund-raiser by the UP College of Law.

Registration is ongoing with fee pegged at P3,500, inclusive of green fees, breakfast, lunch, giveaways and raffle items. For inquiries, call up Atty. Al Oxales at 02-8180395 or 09178856683 or email [email protected].

The event is one of a number of activities held in celebration of UP Law Class 89’s silver jubilee and the UP Law Grand Alumni Homecoming on Nov. 21. 

Meanwhile, the class hosted a leadership forum and fund-raising dinner recently with former President Fidel V. Ramos and Sen. Aquilino Pimentel III as keynote speakers. The forum was graced by political leaders, businessmen and private citizens interested in learning and sharing their own views on the theme “Overcoming Challenges: Philippines Vision 2020”. 

Naga Mayor John Bongat, Dean Antonio La Viña of the Ateneo School of Government and Director Mario Molina of the Manila Economic and  Cultural Office in Kaoshiung, Taiwan composed the panel of reactors. Sen. Pimentel,Bongat, La Viña and Molina belong to UP Law Class 89.

Preparations are also under way for a third benefit event “Chorus Juris in Concert” set Oct. 11 at the Music Museum.

At stake in the Malcolm (Madness) Cup are specially-designed Oblation trophies and a brand new Toyota Wigo, a Piaggio Club Car, and a Callaway Golf Set for hole-in-one feats.

Up for grabs in the raffle draw are Samsung TVs, a Samsung smart phone, IPAD Mini, and Canon SLR Camera.

The beneficiaries for the class’ homecoming activities and fund-raising efforts are Habitat for Humanity House Building Projects and You Got My Boat Building Projects for both Yolanda and Bohol Earthquake Victims; specialized training of lawyers for maritime disputes; UP law alumni on-line directory; I AM PGH Rehabilitation of Ward 12; and a medical fund for retired UP law faculty.
