40 schools suit up for Fr. Martin Division 2 Cup

MANILA, Philippines – A total of 40 school teams are joining the 12th Fr. Martin Division 2 Cup basketball tournament, which reels off on Saturday, July 19, at the St. Placid gymnasium of the San Beda College campus in Mendiola, Manila.
A three-game event will kick off the start of the cagefest, which will have Season 11 finalist, the San Beda-A Red Lions, as among the 24 senior squads listed in the senior division.
Another runner-up last season, the Adamson Baby Falcons is part of a 16-team roster in the junior division.
Commissioner Robert de la Rosa said this tournament is for players listed in their school’s developmental team.
The competition is held annually during the ongoing first semester collegiate season, and has attracted member schools of the UAAP, the NCAA, and other collegiate leagues that have ongoing tournaments during the first semester.
The Red Lions-A are bracketed in Group B with the College of St. Benilde Blazers, the Emilio Aguinaldo College-Manila Generals, the Mapua Cardinals, the Adamson Soaring Falcons, the Polytechnic University of the Philippines Maroons and the National College of Business and Arts Wildcats.
The La Salle Green Archers are in Group A with the University of Perpetual Help Altas, the Jose Rizal University Light Bombers, the La Salle Green Archers-A, the Technological Institute of the Philippines Engineers-A, the Arellano University Chiefs, the Enderun College Titans and St. Michael-Laguna.
In Group C are the Lyceum Philippines University Pirates, San Beda-B, San Sebastian Stags, Letran-B, TIP-B, La Salle-Araneta, National University and Angeles University Foundation.
In the junior side, San Beda is in Group A with University of Santo Tomas, Far Eastern University, San Benildo, St. Jude, LPU, SSC and JRU, while the Baby Falcons are in Group B with Trinity University of Asia, Xavier School, Mapua, National University, La Salle-Araneta, Manila Patriotic School and UPHSD.
