Harden, Chandler, Jennings added to NBA selection vs Gilas
MANILA, Philippines - Three more NBA Stars were added to the selection that will go up against Gilas Pilipinas in dream matches dubbed as The Last Home Stand All-Star Charity Event on July 22 and 23 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Business tycoon and Philipine basketball's most generous patron Manny V. Pangilinan again rocked the Twitterverse with his announcement on Tuesday afternoon.
"WOW! Completing our Fibr AllStars is 1st Team All-League guard James Harden w Tyson Chandler & Brandon Jennings.Game na! #GilasLastHOMEStand," Pangilinan said on his Twitter account (@iamMVP).
Other NBA stars confirmed to be coming for the event are Paul George, Blake Griffin, Paul Pierce, NBA Finals MVP Kawhi Leonard, Damian Lillard, Demar DeRozan, Kyle Lowry, Nick Johnson, Terrence Ross.
Gilas Pilipinas coach Chot Reyes, who is in Wuhan, China guiding the national team in the 5th FIBA Asia Cup, got excited with the strong NBA selection that will test them before they go to the World Cup.
"Grabe,w James Harden we have a 1st team AllStar. Tyson Chandler gives them a legit Center & Brandon Jennings gives them 3 PGs to match ours," Reyes posted on his Twitter account (@coachot) shortly after MVP's announcement.
Almost half of the roster are included in the 19-man pool of the US national men's team.
Tickets to the pair of exhibition matches that will serve as MVP's birthday treat to all basketball fans in the Philippines are selling briskly via Ticketnet.
Ticket prices are pegged at Php23,300 for Patron A, Php20,970 for Patron B, Php17,475 for Patron C, Php9,500 for Box Premium, Php8,000 Box Regular, Php4,000 for Upperbox Premium, Php2,500 for Upperbox Regular and Php750 for General Admission.
The two-day event will also feature a slam-dunk exhibition, 3-point shootout, the John Lucas Skills Camp and the Air Elite Dunkers. Proceeds of the event will benefit the Philippine Disaster Relief Foundation (PDRF) as the country braces for the rainy season.
