No sibling rivalry for Ateneo’s Ravenas

MANILA, Philippines - The UAAP will see another “brother act” in Season 76 but unlike last year’s celebrated Jeron Teng-Jeric Teng clash, it will be a sibling team-up for Ateneo star Kiefer Ravena and Eagles rookie Thirdy.

“There’s no need for another sibling rivalry,” Kiefer said in welcoming kid bro Thirdy, the UAAP juniors division MVP, into the Eagles fold. “They (Teng brothers) made history as rivals, time to make one our own as teammates,” Kiefer added

For sure, the league would never see a Ravena-versus-Ravena matchup on court. But over at the Ateneo camp, their teammates and coaches are seeing “sibling rivalry” between the two unfold.

“During practices, merong competition (you can feel there’s a competition) between them, which is healthy,” said assistant coach Yuri Escueta.

“Makikita mo si Thirdy pinu-push ang kuya niya, yung kuya niya binu-bully sya, yung bata ayaw pumayag (You can see that Thirdy is pushing Kiefer; the older brother bullies him but the younger one  wouldn’t budge). This is quite healthy not only for both of them but also for the team,” he added.
