TV5 to air all Gilas games in World Cup
MANILA, Philippines - TV5 yesterday announced its live free TV broadcast of the Gilas Pilipinas games in the 2014 FIBA World Cup, which unfolds Aug. 30 in Spain.
The Gilas Pilipinas players leave for Wuhan, China today to kick off their build-up for the World Cup as they vie in the FIBA Asia Cup, featuring the region’s top teams China, Jordan, Iran and Chinese-Taipei, slated July 11-19.
Gilas Pilipinas will then play before Filipino cage fans in the biggest and most memorable PLDT Home basketball charity exhibition event with no less than the likes of American basketball superstars Blake Griffin, Demar DeRozan, and Damien Lillard sharing the hard court with our national team in the PLDT Home Last Home Stand Manila 2014 on July 22-23 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Back to their FIBA World Cup journey, the Gilas Pilipinas will play in a series of tune-up games in Europe against the best international teams like Angola, Australia, Ukraine, Egypt, and France starting Aug. 8. The series of games will be exclusively aired on TV5. On Aug. 30, TV5 will telecast all Gilas Pilipinas games in the World Cup live.
TV5 will also telecast Gilas Pilipinas’ campaign in the 17th Asian Games in Incheon, South Korea from Sept. 19-Oct. 4.
All these will be brought to every Filipino home by Sports5, the same winning team that brought the 27th FIBA Asia Championship last August.
