Cavaliers set rubber for UNTV Cup vs Patrollers
MANILA, Philippines - AFP Cavaliers forged a sudden death for the UNTV Cup Season 2 title after pulling off an 75-64 victory over PNP Responders last Tuesday night at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Playing with their back against the wall, the Cavaliers started like a house on fire as they opened a 21-point lead at the half and never looked back en route to levelling the best-of-three title series at 1-1.
Alvin Zuniga had 11 points and three assists to pace the winning team as they gained the momentum heading into the rubbermatch set July 8.
Meanwhile, PNP gunner Olan Omiping emerged Most Valuable Player for the second consecutive year.
Omiping also won the Best Scorer and Best Shooting Guard while teammates Jaymann Misola and Ronaldo Abaya took home the Best Blocker and Best Small Forward plum, respectively.
Other players who received their awards from Mr. Public Service Daniel Razon were PJ VIllanueve (Best in Steals, Best Point Guard and Most Improved Player), San Juan Vice Mayor Francis Zamora (Best Rebounder), Eugene Tan (Best in Assists), Ronaldo Pascual (Best Center), John Hall (Best Power Forward), Jeff Sanders (Best Reinforcement Player) and Zuniga (Fans Choice).
