Robinson-Malabon stages rapid chess

MANILA, Philippines - Robinson Town Mall will host a two-day rapid chess tournament this weekend in Malabon with the event open to all untitled players with ratings not exceeding 1950.

Organized by En Passant Chess Association, the event offers a top purse of P5,000 plus trophy with the second and third placers receiving P3,000 and P2,000 plus medals, respectively, in tomorrow’s first tournament.

The Sunday event, meanwhile, will be for players with ratings not exceeding 2100 with the top three finishers to likewise get P5,000, P3,000 and P2,000, respectively.

There will also be category winners in each event, including the ladies divison, the kiddies section and the seniors category of the tournament sanctioned by the National Chess Federation of the Philippines and to be officiated by the Chess Arbiters Union of the Philippines (CAUP).

Registration is ongoing with fee pegged at P250 and P200 in the ladies, kiddies (14-years old below), seniors and handicapped divisions.

Listup is on a first-come, first-served basis with the field limited to 120 players.
