Saturday non-masters chess slated

MANILA, Philippines - The Saturday non-master chess tournament gets going June 14 with another huge field expected to vie for top honors in the Open and kiddies divisions at 3/F, Foodcourt, Alphaland Southgate Mall, EDSA cor. Chino Roces Ave., Makati.  

A top purse of P4,000 is staked in the Open section. Other titles to be disputed are the seniors, ladies, college and executive. The kiddies Under-10, U-12. U-14 and U-18 will also stake trophies and cash prizes for the top three finishers.

Play will be a seven-round Swiss system with allotted time of 25 minutes per player to finish the game.

The event is organized by the Parañaque Chess Association, headed by Dr. Bong Perez, and sanctioned by the National Chess Federation of the Philippines with NCFP director-lawyer Cliburn Orbe and Alphaland Company as hosts.

Fee is pegged at P350, inclusive of meals, and P250 for the kiddies category.
