Unbeaten champ could get crack at Pacquiao
MANILA, Philippines - WBC and WBA light welterweight champion Danny Garcia has been added to the short list of candidates for Manny Pacquiao next opponent.
This after Top Rank chief Bob Arum, who promotes Pacquiao, and trainer Freddie Roach brought up the undefeated Puerto Rican as an option for Pacquiao in his Nov. 23 fight in Macau.
It remains to be seen, however, if Garcia (28-0, with 16 knockouts) will remain with Golden Boy Promotions, which recently saw the resignation of its former CEO Richard Schaefer after differences with the company’s founder Oscar De La Hoya.
De La Hoya had reportedly reached out to Arum to settle their differences, something that did not sit well with Schaefer and is purportedly one of the reasons for his resignation.
