Uy siblings lead PGF Junior Masters winners

Winners are joined by PGF trustee Alex Prieto and JGFP president Luigi Tabuena and tournament director Jack Imperial.  

MANILA, Philippines - Lanz Uy pulled off an upset victory to share the limelight with elder sister Daniella as the siblings completed a family sweep of the 15-17 years division in the Philippine Golf Foundation Junior Masters national finals at the Aoki course of the Eagle Ridge Golf and Country Club in Gen. Trias, Cavite.

Lanz subdued the favored Jelbert Gamolo of Del Monte 3 and 2 for his biggest victory yet while Daniella earned her third straight match play crown with a 2 and 1 victory over Chanelle Avaricio.

Junia Gabasa of Cebu averted an NCR sweep of the titles at stake when she  upended Angela Mangana 7 and 5 for the girls 11-12 years crown.

Also emerging as champions in the series conducted by the Junior Golf Foundation of the Philippines that featured 64 qualifiers from four elimination legs were Jets Sajulga in the boys 13-14 years, Josh Jorge in the boys 11-12 and Sean Granada in the boys 9-10 years.

Joining Daniella Uy and Gabasa in the circle of winners for girls were Sofia Chabon in the 13-14 years and former world age-group champion Burberry Zhang.
