MANILA, Philippines - The AFP Cavaliers and the Malacañang Patriots gun for a seat in the semifinals as they faces separate rivals in today’s Unity Cup Season 2 quarterfinals at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.
The Cavaliers take on the Senate Defenders at 2 p.m. before the Patriots collide with MMDA Black Wolves at 4 p.m.
By virtue of finishing third and fourth after the second round of eliminations, AFP and Malacañang enjoy twice-to-beat advantage against the Defenders and the Black Wolves.
A win today by the two teams will automatically push them in the company of unbeaten PNP Responders and defending champion Judiciary Magis in the Final Four.
The Responders and Magis finished one and two in the elimination round to move outright into the semifinals.
Alvin Zuniga, Winston Sergio and Jeffrey Quiambao will spearhead the charge for AFP against Senate who will bank on the explosiveness of former PBA MVP Kenneth Duremdes, Tata Marata and Warren Tan.
Jenkins Mesina, Gregg Malapit and Paul Anthony Yamamoto will banner the Patriots while do-it-all guard Jeff Sanders will be leading the Black Wolves.
